2016 Hospitality Suite at World Stamp Show New York
I am pleased to pledge U$D 100 towards the SCF Hospitality Suite.
Nominations are now open as to who will hold the cash, book the suite, et al.
Cheers,
/s/ ikeyPikey

floortrader, my assistant lol, nah...unless we need someone in charge of security, I wouldn't be an adequate leader. |

Are folks being serious about a hospitality suite? Of so, where would it be - at the Javits Center or a hotel (not sure there are any really close by; maybe the NYers in the group can advise). |

The official hotel is the Marriott Marquis, Times Square, although they say they are negotiating with others. A suite at the Marriott would be $3,000 for the week, minimum, plus food and Bev. There is no indication in the show site that Javits could accommodate this. So I'm not even sure Ikey is serious, as opposed to tossing it out here ... |

I think we would be looking at a table in the Javits Center ,they also wouldn't allow us a coffee machine and water because it would interfere with their consession business besides we don't have a union card to serve drinks or food. Also a suite with coffee would need a unionized coffee server because none of us know how to pour a cup of coffee . |

Quote: ... So I'm not even sure Ikey is serious, as opposed to tossing it out here ... That insight was brought to you by a guy who did not put up any cash, talking about the only guy who did. Quote: ... A suite at the Marriott would be $3,000 for the week, minimum, plus food and Bev ... Given what we spend on stamps & hingeless stock books ... given the time that we spend reading & posting ... this group can't raise four grand? Cheers, /s/ ikeyPikey |

An anonymized posting in a discussion forum doesn't constitute putting up cash; it's floating an idea. Certainly the group can raise four grand, but I doubt there is a sufficient trust level for people to start transferring funds or mailing checks to someone who doesn't use their real name here, or whom they haven't met. It would be better to meet for no-host drinks at a set time at some spot in Hell's Kitchen, off Times Square or better yet, Chelsea. McGarry's, Bar Catalonia, something like that. |

So don't nominate someone like that! I wrote: Quote: ... Nominations are now open as to who will hold the cash, book the suite, et al ... |

Someplace on ninth avenue would be much better than someplace in Times Square itself, which is a major tourist trap. |

I don't have the skill set, nor the knowledge of the area to be the point person on this. I am willing to help out. Because I have free room and board nearby, it frees me from hotel costs. That makes my time more flexible also (no reservations needed).
So if we need to nominate a warm body, that's available. I'm your man. If we need make some nominal donation to the cause, I'm in. My name is Stephen Kittle, I'm a Monroe County Deputy Sheriff. My name tag reads S. Kittle. Most of my friends call me Skittle or Skittles. I don't use my real name on the forum because..., I thought stampcrow was an apt moniker for the way I collect. |

an idea for you:
Book a room at the Best Western Hotel about half a block from the Javits Center on 38th street for your hospitality suite. You can buy/bring your own coffee maker, treats, etc. 5 minute walk from the show, and a bit of peace and quiet to go and relax a bit. |

Here's a screen grab from Google Maps looking west on 38th St West towards 11th Ave. The Best Western that chipg mentioned is on the left and the Javits Center is at the end of this street. Course we don't all walk as fast as people from NY. The Javits Center is really big and that's just a small piece of the end of the building. |
