USPS announces ... will others dare follow suit?

Just when you thought it was safe to stop collecting new issues

PSA = Pressure Sensitive Adhesive

WAG = Water Activated Gum

WSPSA = Water Soluble Pressure Sensitive Adhesive ?

Cheers,

Here's my chance to rail against the term "pressure sensitive adhesive." It just seems a bit excessive to me. Doesn't ANY adhesive require attachment to the adherent? Doesn't said attachment require a certain degree of pressure?

KGB,
I think the definition is based upon what is required to 'activate the adhesive'. With PSA, you only need pressure, with others you need water, solvent, or heat.

Don, that makes sense, though I'm still going to grumble. Sticky things are just ... sticky. (Wink.)

'Bout time. Most of the rest of the world's self-adhesives soak off with little difficulty (most of Europe) to moderate difficulty (Australia and New Zealand). Sometimes I didn't even realize they were self-adhesives until after I was done soaking and looked at them a little closer.

You got that right. Here's the link:

https://uspsconnection.com/products/

The only cautionary note is that the product is based on the last edition of the Postal Service Guide to US Stamps and on or about October a new revised catalog (and presumably eCatalog and Apps) will be available.
