Picked up a nicely centered R52c but what caught my eye was the bottom inking. The letters Inter. Revenue almost looked like doubled but I have not the experience to say that. It may just be roller inking issue but is wierd only in that specific area of the stamp.

Any guidance and teaching would greatly be appreciated

colonelrklink, At least on my computer the stamps do not look sharp enough to tell if there is any doubling. I do see some sort of plate problem (?) at the "N" of revenue. Again, it is a bit unclear, maybe you could get a bit better scan?

Peter

Not a double, a dry print.

Thanks for the guidance. So a dry print can occur on a small section of the stamp vice the entire stamp?

Sorry my limited knowledge of dry prints are to that of the liberty series wet and dry printing and thus the entire stamp.

Will try and research articles on revenue dry print on stamps from this time frame.
