Louisville, KY -- but what Type?

It has a period after KY. It clearly has BARS.

The two candidates ought to be: 734 and 821. But both of those have LINES.

Any suggestions? Thanks again.

Jan,
I don't see a period after KY, I do see an eyeball.

Oh dear, my eyesight! I think you are right, but in that case I don't see a candidate for the Type at all.

It's not a Bureau (43, 61, 71, 83) or a city coil (163)
It's not T-205 or L-1 E as it is too narrow
It's not 734 or 821 because they do have a period (and lines)
It's too big to be 853

So is it another nothing? Sometimes I get so frustrated.

they have lines, but the device is 2-across by 5-down, when impressions are not centered on the stamp they produce open ends at one side.... these are called 'line ends' and are slightly less desireable

It looks like a 841, but they don't list an 841 for Louisville.

That's what I thought, Oregonian, but no, it can't be.

Light dawns, chasa -- I had no idea. Thank you as ever.

So, do you think then that it is a 734 / 821 and the period is missing because it was printed a bit light? And if so, do you have an opinion on which it might be?
