What is going on with Stanley Gibbons website? I can't find anything. I was looking for some of their older classic albums. Have they discontinued some items?

Dekka37, why don't you contact Stanley Gibbons and ask them? They will answer you if you give them some specific items you are looking for.

Thanks so much. I have over the years purchased some really nice albums from them. Two Philatelic and a Oriel Album. I need some extra pages for these albums. It seems that over the years these unique albums are disappearing. Yvert & Tellier made a beautiful binder and individual country pages. I am lucky to have two of them. They Haven't been produced for years. |

Also worth looking at UK auction houses' sales, where used Philatelic, Godden etc albums often come up. Postage costs would be horrible, of course! |

Dekka, you can also visit Vera Trinder. Until recently they had a shop around the corner from SG but now they have gone mostly on-line and re-located to the SW of England. I've been buying from them for years. Albums can be found at http://veratrinder.org/stamp-collec...0mpeqa2cild7 and they have shed-loads of other accessories and catalogues too. SG is slowly winding down the accessories business in Ringwood so you may need to be quick and get a look at their stock while it lasts. Hope this helps. |

dekka, your newly arrived Gibbons November catalog shows Oriel & Philatelic leaves on page 25.
Happy shopping!
What the Gibbons product listing does not include is what I have been seeking: a single all-encompassing British Commonwealth ring binder album system that accommodates GB + all Commonwealth nations and colonies 1840-1940 (1950s).
I think I'll contact Regency to find out if what I'm looking for exists and perhaps isn't mentioned in the current product catalog.

Geoff,
Thanks for the visuals. I have sent the question to Gibbons Customer Service if there's an anticipated date for intro of the New Imperial in ring binder format. And will there be a hingeless version as well?
I've also asked two US distributors for Scott for proposal for an entire group of Scott Specialized. I currently have the Scott Specialized British America album, plus 4 empty Specialized binders.

I am not a fan of Gibbons (though I intend no offense to those who are).
I recently visited their store / HQ in London and found it quite diminished and lacking versus what I expected it to be from the glory days.
I've found Lighthouse supplies to be better and their US customer service has been responsive.
Just my subjective opinion though.... |

Quote: I recently visited their store / HQ in London and found it quite diminished and lacking versus what I expected it to be from the glory days. tommy, perhaps Gibbons is simply reflecting the overall diminished global demand for over-priced dealer-margin stamp materials. In other threads many members have shared insights as to what the current stamp market is, and what has been changing in more recent years. Since you recall SG's past times when the HQ may have been more resplendent, I assume you are a long-time collector. I collected in the 1960's before high school; then I gave it up, until 2010 when I became serious building a US classics collection. So I have discovered that the Internet has changed collecting forever. Fortunately, I'm building my collection, so I'm very happy having online access to bidding that in previous decades would have gone through a dealer's mailing list, in-person auction or brick & mortar store. |
