Or, maybe the problem doth arise too rarely?

It happen quite often and it can cost if you redo a page with 25 mounts in it.

I recommend for people who enjoy making their own album pages, as I do, to organize material on stockbook pages until you have all desire to fill a single page. Then, mount all your stamps for the page and do not leave any blank spaces.

I use 65lb stock that easily feeds through an HP printer and then use heavier sheet protector with extra wide tab that is hole punched. I happen to use Bolaffi Kanguru mounts and print a quadrille background on my pages. This is NOT exhibit mounting but rather collection mounting.

Yes, this is probably the best way to do it. Nice page Richard!

Nice! I really like album pages that look like at mini-exhibits (i.e., provide additional information whether it's about the stamps, postal history, or just maps/historical info about the country).

My "problem" is that I collect the world (to 1940) and have thus far avoided specializing, so I invariably get overwhelmed anytime I think about making pages and end up going back to my old Scott International.

Maybe I need therapy?

Richard, can I ask what countries/areas you collect?

Chris - Today, Greece. I am dealer and enjoy building collections for others. ... (and mounting them). My website (www.rfrajola.com) has several collections I have built and sold over the years.

As I said above, I prefer to use Lighthouse vario pages and lay out my stamps using an excel sheet grid as a guide.

this is the first part of Tokelau

Blank row is for the narrow overprint varieties of the 1967 surcharges I still need to get

Blank row is for the 1973 Coral issue I still need to get

Sorry scan was a bit off and trimmed the left side

Just takes a bit of planning ahead with a catalog to organize the pages, but if you picture each page as an excel grid with each cell being approx 25mm horizontal and then whatever the size of the pocket is on the vario page vertical (5-row is up to IIRC 53 mm) then its fairly easy to start plotting spaces. Gives you the ultimate freedom to determine what stamps you want to include and very easy to redo pages if you miss an issue or decide to add something in later. No cost for mounts, and Vario pages in the USA can be found for approx US$20 per pack of 25 of a given size (which gives you 50 facings as they are double sided) or about US$0.40 a page.

I like the boxes, though it often shows just what I'm missing in glaring neon boxes... I also hinge my moounts, so I never have to replace them when I move material from one page to another.

No offense DJCMHOH, but I personally like to have some information about the stamps (at the very least dates and a brief description of what is being shown on the stamp) to be included.

Can agree more.I start the tread with this comment

So finally it will be a kind of more detailed Scott catalogue with real stamps in it

I really don't thing placing stamp on Vario page without any info fit the purpose of this tread.

This is a good exemple of the king of info I would like on my pages, of course with perf. stamps I will like to see the perf. too , and of course Watermark Now depending if those pages will be available to public or not, a Scott #, SG # and Mi # will be a good addition

I will like also to add a drawing of what make a stamp different of a very similar one.

Southpaw show again a good example of it in another tread

Chris, no offense taken just showing what is possible with the Vario route, and it is easy to add text information as little inserts next to the stamps if so desired. Just another option for collectors to consider :)

I print on quadrilled pages and, at least for the GB, tried for the old, hand-typed kind of look. I know I could have used a more "architectural" font for a hand-lettered look, but this was the compromise I went for.

One thing - I don't use a border around the page. I think it makes the whole thing too "busy," as well as constricting the amount of room I have for the material.

Some examples:
