Where Is This Cancel From..?

Hi guys...Take a look at these 2 common covers...one is cancelled in "Earlton" Ontario, but the other one just says "Canada"...

What is that all about..?

It's not only say Canada, it as also the Postal Code of New-Richmond on the postmark and the return address is from there so it's make sense

Is it ok to post something with name and address of someone probably alive on a public forum ?

Robert, it also looks as if something went wrong with the "Canada" envelope. Why would it have been cancelled twice?

Where did you see 2 cancels ? , The 056 G1K 3W0 with http://epost.ca under is done by the sorting machine at Quebec distribution center.

The first envelope don't have it because it was probably to a regional destination and never pass in a sorting machine

I know that I avoid it.

To me, it looks to be cancelled twice, the main one being a "Klussendorf" machine cancel (?) with the "CANADA" wording we are concerned about, and, the "Spray-On" cancellation with the 'e-post' (?) Note that the two are dated May 20th (Klussendorf) and the other (Spray-On) the 21st.

of course one is 20 and the other 21; New-Richmond ( G0C 2B0 ) is at 600 km of Quebec city ( G1K 3W0 ) Their nothing special about this letter, nothing at all, New-Richmond don't put their name in the cancel only the word Canada, the date and the Postal Code.

Where is this cancel from? I wish the delivery person from Canada Post would have the decency to write a town and date, if it wanted to make sure the stamps were cancelled.

What is even more frustrating when we receive these types of cancellation is that is appear the postal worker took time to use 2 different pen to completely ruined such a nice letter.
Anyone got a contact at postes Canada where I can address a formal complaint?

Black crayon and ballpoint pen. The marker monkeys always seem to strike when someone has taken the effort to create a nice cover.

When senders mail covers with collectible stamps like this, they need to present the mail over the PO counter and request that it be hand canceled. Some of the blame appears to rest there.

I suspect the mailer dropped this in a P.O. box (perhaps not even in Granby) and it went directly to a large centralized processing facility and may have only seen the inside of a local PO as part of a large bin of unprocessed mail to send off to the regional center.

The carrier did what he was supposed to do and the best that he could do in the field - protect the revenue with a pen - remember they are running a business first and we collectors are secondary. A note to the sender expressing appreciation for the franking, but suggesting he have his mail hand canceled will do more good than a complaint to the P.O. Alternatively, would you prefer the carrier take your mail back to the office to get a cancel and delay its delivery by a day?

Gilles - that is one reason why I personally hand cancel all my ebay shipments. The other reason is that so much mail goes through now without being cancelled at all.
