I got a little too excited during an auction and won two smallish collections of Spanish Republic and Spanish Civil War this 'n that: local post, Cinderellas, propaganda labels, some things that look for all the world like stamps....
Fascinating stuff, and I have no idea what most of it is. Can you recommend to me any specialized publications that cover this time period in Spain's philately and paraphilately? Tips on both catalogues and more general (narrative) surveys will be received with gratitude.

There is a lot of Spanish local post in the German Michel catalog. Maybe that helps a bit... |

For 1930/40 Spanish philately, any general catalog shuld give you a good coverage.
But for paraphilately, I don't know any catalog that gives you a decent coverage of locals, cinderellas, propaganda labels...
There's an 8 volumes catalog covering cinderellas...I've got a 700 pages A4 catalog, just for republican cinderellas. Aside, you have nationalist (fascists)cinderellas, local posts and labels, stationery... All in Spanish. There are some books/leaflets on the field, in English, written by Nathan of the UK Spanish Philately Society, back in the 70's; good but quite obsolete.
But it's a huge, very complex, area |

Damian, I managed to find an only slightly obsolete Michel catalog that should get here quickly. One of these days, I'll have to give serious thought to subscribing to their online catalog.
Cursus, I'm kind of surprised that Spain doesn't have a paper shortage to this day. Maybe Nathan can help me with the "who are these guys?" type of questions; that information tends to stay relevant. If I end up not ever knowing what half these things are but I learn more about the history of Spain along the way, I'll be happy.
KGB, lucky, yes. Confused and probably silly, but lucky. :)
Edit: I can grammar. |

When you get a chance, would you be willing to post some of the highlights? Interesting and complex era historically and philatelically that I've also been trying to learn more about. |

I understand the 1960 Galvez catalog is the best one for those issues. A bit tough to find, however they do show upon ebay a couple of times a year. |

Galvez is good, but just for normal stamps. Nothing to do with cinderellas, locals or propaganda labels. |

RK1468, I'll be glad to, but because life and weather are getting in the way, it will probably take me a little while. |

Edifil is the catalog publisher of note in Spain, and they have volumes, as Cursus notes, that deal with these Civil War era provisionals, locals, labels, cinderellas and the like. |
