Since Scott catalog doesn't go into much detail distinguishing between the two varieties, and all of the wrong listings of these stamps on Ebay-I will show an easy way to distinguish the two. Also, these stamps are extremely hard to find in decent condition with most perforations not cut from the stamp. The best way is to look at the area where there is no inking from the "C" of "ONE CENT" on both sides to the shading on the central eagle figure. The space is narrower on RO75A DieII than RO75 DieI, that is if you have the two types to compare. If you don't have both varieties, look at the eagles craw-the recut RO75A has several feathers sticking out from the eagles neck to the left. The picture of the single stamp is RO75 Die I and the stamp in the block is RO75A DieII. Having the pictures of both varieties, you can find other differences, such as the clear ribbon under the eagles talon. Happy hunting, let me know if this article was helpful an if you would like to hear more about the varieties on Match Stamps.

Post all the info you want, this is a great field of Philately. I am struggling with the E-Silk variety's. Just ordered a new book to help with identifications. Any advice or help is appreciated. The August Eichle may look familiar to you on this page.
