Mike,

Here are the three I posted earlier that you wanted to see the reverse of. The large envelope has somewhat re-sealed itself, so some of the writing is covered (I didn't want to try and open it).

Hopefully this doesn't post three times, but it's the third time I've tried to post the three plus reverses I posted on the other thread you wanted to see, Mike.big envelope had resealed itself, so some writhing is covered, I didn't want to try and unseal it.

Dave

Thank you for posting the covers again here with the reverse sides. Very nice, early covers.

And thanks to others for your kind words on the collection. Obviously only a small part of what I've accumulated, and to some extent, represents many highlights, but represent the results of many years of diligent searching.
I'm always encountering something new; that's what makes this hobby great!

Mike

Dave, it's interesting to see on that 1869 San Augustine cover how carefully the postal clerk obliterated the face of Lincoln on that 15˘ stamp. He was still reviled down South, even four years after the war was over.

Here is my example of a Registered Mail postmarked Jan 1, 1886 from Medon, TN and cancelled in Galveston TX on Jan 4, 1886. Very sharp Registered Mail and bullseye cancellation.

Very nice.
Galveston was quite good about applying the Registered hand stamp as a receiving mark.
