Back in the 1950's when I moved from my little paper beginner album, I bought a Regent Worldwide album by Grossman, which has been out of business for years. I have added new binders over years and am up to six, but some are getting really, really tired, so I would like to find a couple of binders in good condition. I have found some albums on ebay, but they are usually pretty pricey, especially with shipping because of the weight of the pages, which I don't need. I also need to find a new source for blank pages, which are 9 1/8 x 11 1/2 and the glassine interleaves. The ones I have found on commercial sites are sized just enough differently that I would have to trim them, so I would love to find a source with the correct size. I have given up on the matching borders.

Hi, Lillian--welcome to the Forum. I must say I do not recall having seen any Grossman products for sale in the usual places beyond the range of beginner albums produced by this firm. If you are committed to the Regent binders you may have to grab them when you can, regardless of price. Or you might want to bite the bullet and move to generic binders than can accommodate the normal 10 x 11.5 size blank pages that are produced today. Are the Regent Worldwide albums in looseleaf form?

The Regent album has two posts as opposed to rings. I have looked at other binders in catalogs when I have tried to find blank pages, but I haven't found dimensions shown. The measurements I had in my original message are a bit off--I measured the blank pages I have been using. The original size is 9 3/8 x 11 11/16, so that might be close enough for a 10 x 11 1/2 binder, but I am fearful that the holes won't line up. I have had to re-punch the holes on some of the blank pages I have bought over the years to make one of the holes a little longer, but I would hate to try punching all my current pages with stamps on them. I have six of the Regent binders that are all reasonably full.

Have you seen this listing? Binder as well as supplement pages included:

Seems like on ebay anyway you need to look in the collections category rather than the publications and supplies category for the out-of-print albums.

I had a Regent album as a teenager, given to me for Christmas by my parents. I loved it, but never came anywhere never filling it up. It seemed so huge! Today, if you wish to use an old, unsupported album you have to put up with the inconveniences. It might be a lot easier -- in the long run -- to transfer your stamps from the old Regent album to a newer, more modern album. I suggest the Scott International which you can buy one part at a time.

If that's not workable for you, you can make blank pages for the Regent album by going to many print shops with a sample page or two and asking them to make up pages which match in size. They can also do the hole punching to match the Regent binder. Even a few hundred pages won't be all that expensive. But shop around. It might even be possible to have the printer add a border to the pages or a quadrille background to help keep stamps neat and tidy. Beyond that, living with an ancient Regent album means living with it mostly as it is.
