Printer Needed In Canada

Hi. Can anyone recommend a good booklet printer preferably in Canada? Thanks.

what is a "booklet"?

jogil, a lot (a lot!) depends on the print run. How many copies are you planning?

Jogil, here in the States ( and I guess elsewhere ) one can go to Amazon.com for this. They do an extremely good job and it is not very expensive. I believe it is called "Printing on demand", and it might be worth looking into.

Hi jogil, I was involved with all aspects of graphic design and print production, but your question is too general.
Please provide basic specifications regarding what you need printed, so we can help with a specific solution.
A small quantity - say a few 100 -- of a simple 1-color, or 2-color booklet no larger than 8.5" X 11" may be handled by any
local reproduction source such as Staples, Minuteman. But if you need 20,000 booklets each with 200 pages, or full-color,
or special paper, or binding, that's best sent to an entirely different printer.

jogil, sounds like a job for the local print shop. I use Kinko's here in the States. You'll be able to save some money if you can design the booklet with the color images massed together as much as possible. The difference between a color print and a black & white sheet was not inconsiderable back in the day. I'm sure dc will be able to give the up-to-date facts.

For such a small quantity, I suggest checking the online printer, VistaPrint.com
Company may not provide booklet production, but I have used them for sales materials, letterhead stationary and business cards.
They are very big and may have a printing facility in Canada, but if not you will be hard pressed to beat the company's value.

Let us know if they can accommodate your 48-pages. If this online printer can not produce booklets, others can.
In my experience VistaPrint proved far superior to Staples. Generally very good quality at very good prices.
That will be 12 sheets, 8.5" X 11", printed 2-sides, 4/4 (4-color both sides). I'm just not sure if VisataPrint
will form booklets -- sheets need to be collated, folded, stapled together, and trimmed to size.

To make a long story short, the printer that I have been using in the last few years did a number on me this time. I paid for a proof which he never emailed me and which I did not get to approve and he went and printed the booklets. Thus, some typos that I could have corrected were not and they got printed. So far, he has been ignoring my emails. It cost around $150.00 CDN including shipping to print 25 colour booklets with 48 pages each. Next stop will be issuing a paypal complaint claim and a better business bureau one too since he's a member of both. Also, finding a new printer too, but most are very expensive.
