Mr. Gregg Nelson, a well-known dealer in Mexico stamps and covers, passed away recently. His philatelic estate was sold recently by Fallansbee Philatelic Sales. One of the notable item Mr. Nelson kept since 2004, which he bought at the Follansbee auction at $8,000 + commission against the 2004 Scott $4,800 as ten single stamps. Every time I inquired Mr. Nelson on the possibility of buying this sheet, he firmly wanted to double his investment. This is Scott #327, the numeral 5 is type II (narrow), currently priced at $1,200 in mint. It is very scarce in mint condition, perhaps about a dozen singles floating around. There is one gutter pair, which I bought at auction at $2,100 + commission a few years ago (probably unique pair). This sheet is unquestionably an outstanding showpiece in philately.

Thanks for this post. I was not aware of Mr. Nelson's passing altho I recall he starting selling out a couple years ago. I'll go back and check out my copy of the Follansbee auction catalog.

So, Steve, do you collect Mexico stamps and postal history?
