Thanks for the quick reply, unfortunately reply is generic history of the stamps rarther than opinion on the specimen attached.
What I'm hoping to ascertain
The second stamp specifically missing 'one penny ' value is not recorded anywhere to my knowledge . Would like to know if anyone has any idea .
Other 'post office' issue - would like to know its genuinity .
Thanks |

It simply looks faded. The "One Penny" text is there, not omitted.
As far as I know, there are eleven genuine copies of the 1d "Post Office" in existence. |

If it is faded , other part of the stamp like overprint should have got faded . I would still think it's a miss print ' error
With respect to 'post office' , I acquired this from late famous philatalist's daughter , reason I happen to believe it could be genuine

Jebarai, with all due respect, we get this all the time. We do know, it is very hard to hear that there is no value. It is also very hard to do this via cyber space. You ought to get this expertized if you can not believe the good folks here. One word of warning - the stamp is in pitiful shape so please do not expect too much.

I have to agree with Petert4522 there is no value for the damaged revenue stamp. The other one is a common revenue stamp . The "post office" could be anything ,a cutout or a reprint the scan is too poor for any positive review . |

Jebaraj I've reversed the colors of the stamp to help you see the "One Penny" better. It's simply faded. |

just a rough guess but your China 3 cts on 4 cts inverted surcharge is catalogued at around the 15,000 pound area. Say around 10p for the normal one Expertise should be the option... |

Note too the differences in the printing of the surcharges between the two stamps. If an overprint or surcharge or its form materially changes the value of a stamp, approach witth scepticism! |

In relation to the "Post Office", in philately we have a say: "if it smells fishy and it looks fishy, ussually it's a fish".
A stamp like this "coming from a late famous philatelist" should have something like an expert certification or mark. Without this, I wouldn't touch even with a stick. Here, all the time, we hear about "lucky guys, having found a treasure" or trying to convince us (poor ignorant philatelists) that they have a treasure, from which they're ready to part, if a handsome sum of money is offered. If you don't trust our views, go to a local stamp dealer, and try to sell it. At least is what I should do... |
