I was looking at this cancel on the stamp pictured, I believe it to be a CTO and not postally used. Any comments?

Wpglwr, I can find no listing of this type of overprint for this issue, this is why I believe the stamp was canceled to order |

I think that is a remainder cancel. But yes, better to see what the Guatemala specialists say. |

OK, I know it's not Guatemala, but the similarity with this Nicaragua caught my attention. I thought the Nicaragua stamp might have been a precancel but now I doubt that. Maybe the Guatemala and the Nicaragua are CTOs. Marty |

Nice scan, Marty!
That's why I was guessing they were not ordinary CTOs, but specifically, remainder cancels. |

Rick, that would be good...you bring up some interesting questions..i always thought it might have been a generic cancel but the boys in Guatemala 1 and 2 do not mention it that I can see !! |

Hi , This cancels might be precancels ... Is there gum on the back of the stamp . If there is gum it is most likely a CTO . No gum a precancel. |
