Nice work, gentlemen. I have fallen for that myself, on several occasions. (Not purchased, but mounted in wrong space) I recall a light blue "Newspaper" opt, fooling me. I have to say though, that ebay listing had a good image, I'm surprised the purchaser did not spot it. The more I kick tyres on the internet, re Turkey, the more I see wrongly identified stamps, and people buying them, especially the "Imprimes" It's an absolute minefield. I lost a bid this morning, nice page of PTT overprints 1916 sold for $58. Turkey holds very good prices around the sales. I am glad I got in when I did. |

Hi Rod,
The red ones are familiar:
The big round red seal is a Turkish telegraph seal from the 1920s.
The dirty red stamp at the bottom is a Persian postage stamp from 1885.
The bottom-right red stamp is a 1927 postage stamp from Hejaz & Nejd.

I think the last (i.e. left hand) word at the top of the big green seal is "Iran". |

Thank you Nigel, I'll chase those up.
Not so disappointed I was outbid now. Extraordinary price in my opinion. Haven't won a Turkey Revenue auct for months now.

The top left stamp (blue) appears to be a Saudi Arabian stamp, some sort of Road tax stamp. Maybe the the middle blue pair are also from Saudi Arabia. |

22crows,
I agree the middle pair look very Saudi Arabian.
I think the top left one may be from Egypt as it seems to have a combination of palm trees and pyramids. |

Quote: pyramids. Nicely spotted, missed that myself. I find it rather odd, the motor car is alongside an old locomotive They look out of context. |

Eastern Rumelia (difficult to complete) 1880 Steiner Page 2. Assume all forgeries, and forged Pmks, on these issues, before proving genuine. |

1863 Sc#4 2 Piastres Black greenish blue, CV $110 $20 Paper .0025" Secret Mark : Dot inside Pearl, 9 down, Right hand Side. Another Sc#4 Heavily damaged, but useful in studying the better printed filagree in the top corners, and to prove consistency, the top right hand "Pearl" is squashed. |

I don't know why, when I was de-skewing this image, into my head popped Mike Oldfield's "Tubular Bells" When the music is building tension, he introduces "A slightly distorted guitar"............ Sc#41 1874 10pa red violet $25 $10 |
