Hi Nethryk, That is a beautiful engraving and the Peace Dove clearly has a twig of olive. The Thai Dove has a rainbow with it, another symbol of hope and peace.

From North Korea for the International Year of Peace. Notice in the 30 stamp a pile of discarded rockets.

(Cris, I noticed you are fairly new to the Stamp Community - welcome! I think your Spanish Doves are lovely. K.)

Hi Rod, The Dove designed by Barraud for the 1932 Geneva Conference on Disarmament is one of my favorites - somehow the Dove seems proud of itself although its tail feathers look rather battered. The later Dove by Patocchi was issued on the 9th of May, 1945. "Peace on earth to men of good will". It is part of a larger PAX set.

One of the oldest stamps depicting a Peace Dove is the one issued by Japan in 1919. Unusual that it is perched on the olive twig, not carrying it. Interesting political developments in Japan at that time.

Two famous artists created Peace Doves for the Paris Conference in 1946, Decaris and Gandon. 21 nations participated and papers were signed in early 1947. (Bonus in the designs: Hands.)

(Hi Rod, That's an impressive flock of Australian end-of-the-war doves! And I like the Red Crescent, Red Cross and Red Lion all together! K.)

I was focusing on the Peace dove, your observation did not occur to me.
Well spotted !

Hi Rod, Often a very simple design, such as your Canadian Dove or this one from Armenia (2006) carries the clearest and most direct message. (I shall be looking for the Belgian one as well.)
