INTRODUCTION

Google Books is a source for a wide variety of older - out of copyright - digitized philatelic literature. There are also a number of Post Office Guides and manuals from various countries that have been digitized.

The primary difficulty with Google Books is that locating a book based on a general topic or subject, when you don't know the precise title, is often difficult.

Google Books has a feature that allows you to save links books on a bookshelf, which you can name.

Over the years I have developed a number of these bookshelves for titles related to philately and postal history, and flagged all of the philatelic books which I have come across, regardless of whether they were of any interest to me at the time. Occasionally I have included books of a historical nature. It was easier to do it in this manner than to believe I could find the book again when I really wanted it.
In the next several posts, I am providing links to those bookshelves. There may not be something for everyone, but in any case, its interesting to see how philatelists and postal historians thought and wrote in the 19th and early 20th century.

The Book titles on these bookshelves are NOT in particular order. The tools for organizing these titles are very rudimentary, and it was not worth my time to organize them other than by general subject matter.

Most of these titles can be downloaded in PDF format for FREE!

Note: Some of these titles may not be available to users outside the United States. Google Books has some "odd" views on copyright, and this influences who they will allow to access some titles.

If you have problems with any of these links, contact me through the PM system, or post on this thread and I'll see if I can figure out what happened.

If you know of other philatelic publications in Google Books, please contact me and I will add them to the appropriate bookshelves.
The Google Books feature seems pretty slow at times and occasionally you might think it is not working. Be patient.

It's my impression that this is one of those Google features that no longer gets any attention. Occasionally I find things that no longer work, so I promise no guarantees other than could access these titles at the time I created these posts.

Mike
