Hi there!
I inherited a small stamp collection that includes US & foreign stamps.
I scanned a few of the pages and am posting them here.
Some of them have descriptive notes, including numbers, but I don't know when they were written or if they are even accurate.
I've tried to figure this out on my own but as I am a resume writer who has a small knowledge base regarding this subject matter, I'm not having much luck on my own.
I thought about buying a stamp program, but if these are worthless then it really wouldn't make much sense to invest any money!
If any of you can provide some insight/assistance/expertise, thanks so much in advance!

Have they captured your interest? Or are you just hoping to divest yourself of them? The next step will sort of depend on the answer. |

Hi Cjd,
THANK YOU for taking the time to respond to my inquiry!
These stamps HAVE captured my interest! The collection isn't large, but there are more stamps in envelopes and additional pages.
I would like to know if the stamps I scanned and posted here are or appear to be authentic, and if they are, what their value might be (or a rough idea).
It seems to me that if they are indeed authentic, possibly the rest of the collection might also have a chance of being authentic.
Conversely, if they are not authentic, well, it doesn't make a lot of sense for me to take up a new hobby of stamp collecting -- if my stamps are all fakes!
I noticed with interest that you area very active member within this group - looks like you are amazingly "in the know" regarding this subject matter!
I sure would appreciate your thoughts/input!
Thank you!
Shari |

*If you determine they might have any worth, I'd love to get a ballpark, so that I can determine next steps. If you have any suggestions as to where I might look up values, I would very much appreciate receiving that info.
If they are basically worthless, I'd also appreciate hearing that.
Thank you, again! |

To me, the stamps look old and far from worthless, but keep in mind that even old stamps are rarely valuable monetarily. Go to your public library and look for Scott postage stamp catalogs and books on stamp identification (there are a lot of them). You will need to spend a lot of time with those books, trying to figure out exactly what you have and what it's monetary value might be.
And by the way, don't handle the stamps with your hands. Use stamp tongs (not tweezers!) and handle the stamps carefully, if you must remove them from the album pages. |

ResumeWriter, an easy way to find values (retail) on these is the website http://stampworld.com . Since most of your stamps are already sorted by country you should have very little trouble finding them. Peter |

Thank you so much! I truly appreciate your kind feedback. As a newbie, I have no idea what I am doing. I will look at Stampworld.com .
I will look for the Scott books. Hopefully my library will have them!
Sorry about the crost-posting. I did not know which forum would make the most sense.
