Here is a variety in SG633, but not listed by Stanley Gibbons, the National Stamp Week miniature sheet. The miniature sheets were printed, eight to a full sheet, as shown in the following diagram. The variety occurs in Position G. When looking at stamps at the dealer in the main Eatons store in Montreal, I was lucky enough to find four copies, one after the other, with this variety in his stock. I presume this this is an indication that the miniature sheets were sliced out of the full sheet sever al sheets at a time.

1980 ACSC First time I have encountered "Autotrons" I have this issue in booklet form (which does not attract a Catalogue listing) |

Rod:
It's a bit odd that ASCS shows the printing layout inverted. Also, the autotrons and the registration marks are in a different location.
Frank.
For those who are wondering, the autotrons, sometimes called colour bars, were used by APO's Chambon printing press to adjust the position as the paper was fed from colour to colour. The Chambon printing press was fed paper from a roll and it also guillotined and perforated the sheets as the paper went through. |

I bought one at the time from the Woden Post Office in Canberra and recognised it from your image immediately. Here's mine. |

In one of my few philatelic pieces of luck, I looked through the stock of a dealer (in the main Eatons store in Montreal, and came up with four copies of this variety on the 1976 stamp week SS variety. |

This flaw is listed in my 1981 ACSC as "Nick in brown band under ra". Someone with an up to date ACSC Decimals should be able to give details of current listing.
SG is of no use on Australian flaws as it generally lists only the very expensive ones.

These booklets are not listed as they were not official issue. They were the product of the Australian Stamp Promotion Council for National Week.

Hi langtounlad
I agree with you, I recently bought the latest SG (have been out of stamps for many years) for Australia, hoping to see something in the decimal section for constant flaws at least. My very old 41st edition ACSC at $1.99 when I bought it so many years ago and I understand is now a massive 10 volume set by Brusden-White, is far more informative. Far more informative.

Weird huh, I read your NCP1, thought that's wrong, checked, yep wrong and then went ahead and did the same thing. Must be a brain thing... (I haven't done it again have I?)

Quote: These booklets are not listed as they were not official issue. They were the product of the Australian Stamp Promotion Council for National Week. Right. Thank you very much. Pencilled on my Album Page. Castor. Quote: I read your NCP1, thought that's wrong, checked, yep wrong and then went ahead and did the same thing. Must be a brain thing... I was erecting perimeter fencing yesterday, Came in , took out the Orange Juice from the fridge, poured a glass, and for some unknown reason, put it in the overhead china cabinet. Came in later and spent 10 minutes looking for it.......... I thought I was going nuts when I couldn't find it (It's a worry) |

Penguins: Rather late, I know, for a reply but I was just revisiting this topic. Quote: I also have four with the variety and also seven with the Autotron marks?. See my original post above for the layout of the master sheet. The Autotrons are in the left selvedge. I think that what you are seeing is the T marking for cutting the sheets up into mini-sheets due to the slicing of sheets being low and to the left. Frank. |

Wonderful information provided above - thank you Itma, Buddahboy and rod222!
Using the above, I have 10 x Sheet G (notch) and 1 x Sheet H. Not interested in having so many examples so I will be posting in the Trade forum in the near future. |
