Found these in an ebay lot of Spanish revenues. My only reference is the Forbin catalog, in which they are listed as "Giro de Consumo" issues (page 288). Forbin states that it is unknown if they are official or privately made (from what I can understand). All the ones I have like this are cut to shape, so I am assumming that's how they are suppose to be. Does anyone have any other, more current, information on these?

Never seen these before, in my travels. Usually one would equate Spanish (large) Punctures, with Telegraph use.
Nothing listed in the Byrum catalog.

That was one of my initial thoughts as well. Also, control numbers printed on the front of the stamp is unusual. I can't tell you how many different searches I've done for these and can find nothnig. Even a reverse image search yields no other picture. |

Hello Spain_1850,
Have you checked if these are listed in the Edifil "Fiscales Espanoles" catalogue?
I don't have a copy but I see John Barefoot recommends it on his site.

Nigelc - No, I haven't. I don't own that catalog (yet), but was hoping someone on here might have one. It's on my current "wantlist".
rod222 - Yes, Forbin also mentions they are not sure if it's Spanish in origin or Colonial. So at a dead end for now. I will check out your link though, and see if I can find some answers. Thank you.
perf12 - Maybe it is, but I don't usually get that lucky. Out of the 27 different values mentioned in Forbin, the ones I have are the lowest denominations. If these are rare, I can only imagine how rare the higher values might be. |

Forbin gives a range of prices for this series from 50 centimes to 3 francs which suggests they're not rare. |

I would say you are probably right. Like I said I don't usually get lucky enough to find rare items. One thing is for sure, Forbin has 27 denominations listed, so they had to have seen them somewhere, it's just a matter of WHERE! |

The plot thickens! While searching for something completely different, I stumbled upon this entry in my Galvez catalog for Spanish proofs and essays. I t appears my stamps are some sort of official...maybe? They sure look like dead ringers for the circled proof (right above #66). One thing I am not sure about is the fact that the description for #66 (6 cuartos black) does not match the picture (9 ESC). This would , at least, point to Spain being the source and not the Colonies or a private issue. Although the heading at the top of the listing states "de autores desconocidos" (Of unknown author). Hey, it's not much but it's something. |

They certainly cannot be very common. Do you know what they were used for?
