It has the 'Permanent' logo on each stamp, is priced at $4.25 (8 x 85 cents), has the CPC red logo on the bottom of the page and is packaged like a sealed CP special souvenir sheet or pane, so it looks real.

I've never heard of this either.

sak and Bee See - please post links as I can't find either that you're talking about.

There's nothing on the Canada Post web site, but no surprise there.

Black Jag.
I am referring to an ebay listing: 262981854720 (which can be entered in the Search box.
Incidentally - I believe we have someone who has access to the backdoor of Canada Post or Aurora PO.
The seller has ten to sell.

BeeSee - The press sheet will have to be acquired to have the five strips of five, I think.

1st F1 GP in Montreal was in 1978.......so what this is all about ???? I was there for the No 1 Grand Prix ! and the 2nd AND 3RD......

Understand that the GP was jumping all over the place until its stability in Montreal 1978 !

Renden - according to Wikipedia:
"The Canadian Grand Prix (French: Grand Prix du Canada) is an annual auto race held in Canada since 1961.[1] It has been part of the Formula One World Championship since 1967. It was first staged at Mosport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario as a sports car event, before alternating between Mosport and Circuit Mont-Tremblant, Quebec after Formula One took over the event. After 1971, safety concerns led to the Grand Prix moving permanently to Mosport. In 1978, after similar safety concerns with Mosport, the Canadian Grand Prix moved to its current home on Notre Dame Island in Montreal."

Perhaps this is not so much a question of whether this is an anniversary for the event; rather are the stamp products sak is showing us actual Canada Post issues. I don't see "Canada" anywhere on any of them! And as far as I know, the only country that can get away no country name is Great Britain.

Whoops! I stand corrected .. there is a "Canada" on the left side of each stamp! But, I still would like to know whether this is a legitimate Canada Post issue ...

sak, I am aware of this history though prominence of the GP started in 1978 and I did mention Montreal and not Canada but it is the Canadian GP after all (1967, year of Expo - 2017) so I am sorry for the confusion ! - Rene

I suspect that these stamps were an "accidental" early release, similar to the NHL Hockey stamps of 2013. They are probably being issued later this month.

Here is the Newswire story, plus a link to the stamp images in a Dropbox folder:

Like Sak said, it appears as if strips of 5 or only available from the press sheet.

Hold on, BlackJag
Canada Post is only offering a limited selection at this moment. (I called.)
Not postcards, but the OFDC's and no press sheet.
