Can our Australian experts help me to identify this one? The nearly vertical line goes from the upper right of the stamp, down through the Y in Penney and slightly past. I can't locate this in the ACSC catalog (3rd watermark). I am leaning towards a scratch while in the mail, but could it have occurred during printing? Thanks in advance.

Here is a closer view, slightly color enhanced to show the line a little better.

Interesting looking flaw but I agree it is not ACSC and a flaw of that size nature would surely be in the ACSC if it was a constant printing flaw.

A lot of the printing flaws of that time were white/inkless scratches etc. Yours has a lighter blue colour to it.

Yes during the printing process while the ink was wet a piece of something could of been dragged across the printed surface or in the mail process something could of happen also as you say.

Opinion:
Nice one!
looks genuine to me, I cannot see it at the moment in my catalogue,
I am still suffering from rock climbing, and not enthusiastic.

I'll pass this image on to my colleague, who studies the 2˝d
and post back when / if I get a response.

Can you please post reverse, we are interested in the PERFIN.

Thanks.

Reverse, as requested. Kind of looks like, "FO&C" to me.

A couple of us looked at your image today,
We came to the same conclusion.
Nothing at all in all our records, have any information of a similar flaw.

EFO. (Errors, Freaks, and Oddities)

Perfin remains unknown.

Thanks for the review. Into the EFO category it goes.

Still, an interesting discovery piece.
Would have interest with the hardcore Kangaroo and Map fans.

For the 2 1/2d guys, I always like the one I posted back a few years, found at this link

https://goscf.com/t/43534#375740

In the example shown at that link, the area doubled is around the 2 1/2d numeral circle and the upper left. Nothing in ACSC for this variety either, but a nice keeper anyway. Cheers!
