Too bad it has a torn corner. Can we get it now for $900.00? By the way, this seller is doubly ignorant. It says clearly on the stamp 1795-1849 - by that date alone it could not be a 1795 stamp ( apart of course from the 1995 date ).

No doubt this person will soon be selling some nice coins dated 2000BC soon to go along with the Polk stamp. |

Hey I have 4 mint sheets of that Polk stamp! I'll take ah... 5 million wooden nickels for all. Hey, that reminds me... I have a buffalo nickel with no date (worn off) so it must be from before there were dates. Maybe I should sell it to Flower420. Heheheh - Only Kidding!!

You mean bluish paper has to be in the stamp and not stuck down next to it? Ohhhhhhh ...
Remember the old department store stamp stores? Ed, a collector I knew, saw a #369 on display there, no Scott#, no price. He knew what it was. So he asked the clerk "How much?". The clerk grabbed (probably) a Brookman, ran down the page and sure enough, the first listing he hit was #367, and quoted that price. Instant sale. Ed kept checking out that store and others, over and over, but never found any bluish paper on display after that. |

I was interested to see what the seller had to say so I contacted the seller and gave them some info about this issue (SC# 2587) and the events of 1847. They replied and claim to have just " inherited a ton of 19th century stamps" and are new to all this... They've revised the ad to $10. Good luck with that! Jeff |

Even though I signed up here over 2 years ago I have not been active, but plan on remedying that going forward. I find it amusing this is the first post I come upon. Amazing to me that anyone would fall for this, but perhaps some do. I have been a collector for over 60 years. I am quite active on several stamp groups on Facebook. My forum name, 1840andbeyond, is because that is what I collect including a small collection of Penny Blacks and 2 Penny Blues with my initials (JH) on the bottom. I have been an APS member for many years, and recently rejoined ATA. |
