sweet, thanks. below are a couple images, as you can tell 99% of them are canadian, all should be pre 2000s, majority have been used/stamped... probably got several thousand but laid out a small handful in the first pic

Meme, all very common. a pack of 500-1000 would probably retail for less than 1$

meme922...Welcome to the forum.

Even though you posted common stamps, it dosent mean they are worthless..The stamps I see do have some varieties that are possible and you may have..You will need a Unitrade Catalogue to see if any stamps are common or not so common...Can you get your hands on such a book..?

Welcome meme922 to our forum.

Adding to wert's commentary, your local library may have a copy of "The Unitrade Specialized Catalogue of Canadian Stamps.

However. it would take a great deal of time for a novice to find any particular stamp in it, and the odds of finding a "variety" of any particular stamp is extremely low.

"Variety" is a stamp that is different from what it should have been - colour error, extra markings, missing parts of an image, missing invisible tagging, etc.

I agree with Gilles le Timbre that there's very little value to the stamps as they are extremely common and have been "used". It appears to me that your Grandmother simply collected stamps off of her mail and perhaps had friends collect from their mail as well for her.

Perhaps you might start collecting yourself. Keeping stamps from incoming mail is an inexpensive method of building and maintaining a collection. Stamps albums are not required as everyone has their own method of storing their stamps (purchased album, self-made album pages, stock books, simple filing system of loose stamps, etc, etc, etc.)

If you know of any family member or friend who is interested in collecting stamps, it would be a nice "gift". You local stamp club may be another "gift" location.

mem922,

A lot of us started collecting the same way. If it interests you, start by trying to organize by duplicates. I like to see my stamps, so I try to organize in Vario sheets.

Good luck and welcome.

These stamps are of great value if they have sparked an interest in the wonderful world of stamp collecting. Each stamp is a work of art and wants to tell a story. These stamps can be the beginning of a long and rewarding pastime.
