Hi All-
I bought a book of older stamps that had these two Harding 2 cent stamps. I'm new at this so I'm trying to understand the difference. From what I can tell it's just the number of perforations (10 and 11)?
IS this the only difference and does it change the value? I'm also trying to mark it down in my scotts catalog but not sure if it's ust 613 or what.

Thanks for you input, Jeff

Probably not 613 because there are only 43 known to exist. 613 was made from sheet waste.

"If the candidate is noticeably taller than the normal one, then you might have a rotary sheet waste stamp. There are other considerations, but if the perforations appear to be genuine it is certainly worth submitting the stamp for certification - an absolute necessity if you think your stamp might be a rare rotary sheet waste candidate."

Looks like you have:
Scott 610 - 2¢ Harding Memorial - Flat Plate - Perf 11
Scott 612 - 2¢ Harding Memorial rotary perf 10

You just need to find one with the perforations like the one on the right, and the design dimensions of the one on the left, and no black specs on the back like the stamp on the right. easy !

The stamp on the left is a perf 10 rotary press stamp Scott 612 and the stamp on the right is a perf 11 flat plate Scott 610. A close comparison of design heights will show that the rotary press 612 is about half a frame line taller than the flat plate 610. Also note that the rotary press stamp has less contrast and looks gray from ink wash on the paper compared to the flat plate stamp with more contrast between the white paper and the black ink in the design.

Hello all,
These are old scans of mine & I don't have time right now to do better ones for you all. But.......
Almost every thread I see is always missing the rear scans ;)

The last stamp top row is my sample 10 perf. & that with the clear see through multi-gauge made things a lot easier for me.
Tip I learnt on the forum, scan together, enlarge on the computer screen & compare sizes ;)

jkjoller....those that dare to dream win, there's a chance more are out there ;)

Later.
