revcollector, I think semantics is the problem here. I would consider several issues in the PF list I quoted to be faults so in my view a faulty stamp would have been graded in those instances. |

None of these are faults, although they may (or may not) strongly affect how attractive a stamp is: Blind perforation(s) Natural gum bend(s) Natural gum wrinkle(s) Natural gum skip(s) Tiny natural inclusion(s) Pale or faded color Paper that is not fresh Perforated stamps with margins that are smaller than one usually sees Perforation disc indentations heavy run-of-the-mill cancel
These are faults; stamps with these problems will not get graded: Short perforation(s) Minor perforation crease(s) Minor toned spot(s) Tiny thin spot(s) Tiny tear(s) |

I emailed Siegel in regards to the subject lot in order to hopefully bring closure to this topic. Hopefully I did not step on anybody's toes in doing so. When I hear back I shall share what was said. |

revcollector, I agree with your categorization of which items in the PF list are faults. But the PF has had this entire list on their web site for quite a while which definitely implies they will grade stamps with any of the 5 faults you listed. |

I just heard back from Andrew Titley from Siegel. He copied Corey Long, Senior VP, and will have an answer back shortly on this topic. Stay tuned. |

I wonder if someone filed the stamp a bit to shorten the tear to the point of being really insignificant. |

Corey Long from Siegel was having a difficult time finding a tear but based on the PF cert being out there now they chose to withdraw the lot rather than end up with a headache. |

Thanks for update. Busy week at work so thanks for help.
I hope Siegel figures this out and gets stamp back up for auction in next few months. I was planning on bidding either way, sound or faulty.... just want accuracy, so can bid with confidence. kind of a little bummed but hopefully stamp will not disappear for 5 years or more. Not many opportunities to own this position piece perforated. One day hopefully will sit in my album with the description as ex- Txstamp, ex- Clipper city |

The tear appears to be a mystery. Corey would have found it even if it had been tiny and worked on after the PF cert. If it is sent back to PF for a second cert how would they handle the first cert?
Rgstamp - Siegel does a lot of private treaty work. I am certain if you contact Corey Long or Andrew Titley you may be able to come to an agreement. |

The PF would re-examine the stamp. They would look at the original opinions to locate where the tear is supposed to be; if they find it then there is no change. If it has been repaired that can be noted. If they do not find one then it would have to go to the overturn committee for re-evaluation. |
