These came in a lot I purchased recently, pretty sure they fake as they have a high cat value in my Scott specialized, which has them under local stamps, but do I keep them as stamps, or sell them as Cinderellas?

Front...

Back.... someone has already added Scott numbers, not done by me.

I'd keep them with issued stamps, they were in use before there were government stamps. They are a very interesting field, BUT... Careful! Forgeries abound!

None are genuine.

Some Independent Mail Companies, operating mail systems between cities, issued stamps in the US in 1844 and pushed the post office to lower the postal rates in 1845.

Local Posts, that operated within a small area or city, are a different animal (catalogs usually conflate the tow). They operated in the 1840s all the way through the 60s.

Well, first of all, there is no definitive definition of a Cinderella.

Some people would use a broad definition, pulling in locals, revenues and things like international reply coupons. Others would restrict the terms to things like charity seals, promotional labels, bogus issues, etc.

But even if they are "cinderellas" by which ever definition that you want to use, why base your decision on whether to save or sell on that? If you find them interesting, save them. If not, sell.
