To me, this doesn't look like a type 1c candidate. If I remember right, type 1c only comes from plate 4. This does not look like a plate 4 stamp. It looks like either a type 2 or maybe type 4.

You are correct. This is a Scott #9, Ty IV.

It is a top row right pane Plate 1-Late stamp, which has slightly larger designs than many others. It is recut once at bottom and not recut at top.

The slightly larger design plumes at bottom might be enough to fool a casual buyer not reading the Scott catalog carefully.

Any 1c stamp that has a recut bottom or top line is Ty IV. Period.

The unethical seller could of least made an attempt to sell it as a type 1b.
6R1E gave rise to type 1B

This stamp is obviously recut on bottom so from Plate 1 late, not early.
Scott 9 type IV....Multiple thins etc. worth 3$!

Anthony's has been doing this for years. This is the tip of the iceberg.

How can I find just the reviews for Anthony's on Stamp Smarter?

I remember way back in the 1900's in the early days of ebay, I purchased exactly 1 stamp from Anthony's. A nice looking US #10A, orange brown, described as sound.

When I got it, it had a giant thin that you could see across the room when held up to the light. That was all I needed to know about these guys.

Anthony's either doesn't respond at all (95 percent of the time) or says something put-offish like "I'll look into it." No incorrect listing is ever changed.

Wow. Does it look like a legitimate buyer?

Back when bidder id's were visible, it was pretty easy to spot shills.
Now, I'm not clear how one can tell anymore...but I haven't bid on ebay in over 10 years, so I'm out of date.

Usually the unethical dealers/sellers try to pawn off the Scott 24 perforated as a type IIIa or III, not a Ic.
Trimmed off perfs... sad

This madness must stop! I stopped doing business with Anthony's. I had seen the awful Cartel at work first hand too. Hard earned $ is getting tossed away on a false hope...real snake oil stuff! How does this get stopped for the good of the hobby?

It will stop abruptly when the collectors stop buying it!
