Here is an image of a stamp depicting the freighter Lady Franklin breaking the ice, designed by French marine artist Serge Markó (1925- ), engraved by Claude Haley (1923-1988), and issued for use in French Southern and Antarctic Territories on August 4, 1983, Scott No. 104. Note: This ship was probably named after Jane, Lady Franklin (1791-1875), an "indomitable" Englishwoman who was an early Tasmanian pioneer and the second wife of Rear-Admiral Sir John Franklin (1786-1847), a British Royal Navy officer and explorer.

Here is an image of a stamp depicting an oceanographic survey ship, and the headquarters of the International Hydrographic Bureau (in 1970 renamed the International Hydrographic Organization) in Monaco, designed and engraved by French artist Jacques Combet (1920-1993), and issued by Monaco on May 4, 1981 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the IHO, Scott No. 1284. Mystery note: There seems to be an error on this stamp: The International Hydrographic Bureau was founded in 1921, not in 1931 as inscribed on the stamp, so the IHO was actually 60 years old in 1981.
