Love that bike. I bet it's a three-speed with a stickshift to go along with those handbrakes.
When I was six or seven, such a bike would have been described as totally "mint", it looks so cool. We referred to such bikes, with their hi-rise handlebars and banana seat as "Mustangs", for some reason.
One night in the early summer of '69, my dad arrived home with a pair of single-speed Mustangs for my brother and I. These were our rewards for passing the school year. My brother's was red, while mine was purple, and both had the sparkly banana seats and chromed chainguards. I could now go on my "adventures" in style.
Mind you, this was back in the days when kids knew how to play, and didn't think "playing outside" was something you had to find to download on a computer...
My bike from the mid 1980's was a red and blue Huffy BMX style. After a couple years my dad & I repainted it metallic brown, added white mag wheels, and white handle bar grips & a white seat. I loved to cruise the neighborhood. Ahh, the memories.
