1922 Steiner Page 18. Willi Dachauer's "Gorgon" Motif (Wm. Finlay) Instantly recognisable Art Deco design. Gorgon being one of the three sisters, with snakes as hair, 2 being immortal, except Medusa , eventually killed by Perseus. |

Hello Rod,
Concerning your Steiner Page 18 "Gorgons"
These stamps come in a few perforations, but also in 2 different sizes of the design. I: 25 x 29,5 mm and II: 26 x 29 mm.
Your 10000 kronen stamp exist only in type II so this stamp is easy to use as a template to look at the design sizes of other stamps.
Not all stamps exist in all perforations and/or types.
Kind regards,
Johan. |

Quote: Concerning your Steiner Page 18 "Gorgons" Thanks Johan, I had noticed the perforation varieties in Scott, but unaware of the differing sizes. I'll check my duplicates before placing on ebay. Note: I did once come across information the "Gorgon" motif, was modelled after a famous actress of the era? Dashed if I can find that in my database. Dachauer's designs are fabulous, incl. the hammer and pincer designs, I am really fond of the Art Deco era stamps. wiki |

Hi Rod, I don't know if you're familiar with Bookfinder.com but there are a number of copies of various degrees of seniority on this search https://www.bookfinder.com/search/?...&st=sr&ac=qrI hope that helps, I find this a very useful resource and I've used it to get some amazing bargains. Rather out of the way books are pulled together into one search very neatly. To me, the most surprising thing is that books that look identical - same year of publication, same binding and so on can sometimes range in cost from pennies to hundreds of pounds! |
