The Stamp Dealers("Fraternity/Magazine Publishers, Travel the World on Holidays using your money") do the hype, Post article's on rarity, "buy them now". Just sit back and wait, the Bunnies will go in and buy paying big dollars in the short term (now), fool them if they think they have a major money making investment. I did that in the 1980's - fool me. Sam |

Hi sam931
I don't go in for all the hype of new issues etc I'd sooner spend my money on Roos & KGVs any day. |

Thank you Rob for answering my queries The issue of how these should be defined is very interesting. The dealer who shall never be named has stated that SG will have a page for them in their Australia printed albums which will create a "short sharp global demand" I guess time will tell if it was all hype, hope or something else. |

I'm with Aussie Al
Roos & KGV over modern issues will always be my preference. Hype is always over-rated IMHO.

I went through the Roos & KGV phase in my collecting. I ended up completely "bamboozled", color variations, watermarks in all different directions, short tails, broken frames, re entrey's. It came down to specializing or give up. I gave up, kept the Seven Seas pages, sold the rest bar some commercial covers. To collect this area there are two possibilities, both are indicative of ones disposable income. One must decide to play the game(collecting) at the Top of the pile or forever bugger around with the cheaper issues. Both the Arthur Gray catalogs were sent to me, not a chance in Hell I have that sort of money(top end). |

Fuel for the Stamp/Label controversy?
The Penny Black, the protogenitor of all stamps, had the following text in the top and bottom margin of each pane: Price 1d per Label. |

I agree Sam. Even a simplified run of the 18 face different Roos in used condition would do me!
Can't argue with KGV Collector either. It's too hard to keep up to date these days and that's without any real specialisation.
Itma is right. Stamps were originally sold to the public as labels, not stamps. Gum back then was called cement.... |

Email from a stamp expert.
Chris Krzysztof Ceremuga Jan 21 (11 days ago)
to me Dear Allan,
Thanks for the email & sorry for delayed reply.
Yes, I would be able to expertize them and issue certificate for then.
As I would classify them as a real stamp issue.
Looking forward to hearing from you .
Best Regards,
Chris

It becomes very interesting concerning very recent issued Australian stamps. We are at the cutting edge of how & why of these stamp being accepted within the collecting community.
Nothing different happening here. It has always been the same since the beginning of Australia Stamp Collecting. |
