There was some earlier discussion that using
ebay's "Report Item" system was pointless and was a waste of time.
Another user commented though that his board members were successful in using it to get items removed.
So, does the process work or doesn't it?
There's only one way to find out!
Let's do an experiment.
It requires about 30 seconds of your time.
This is an example of a rare local stamp, 4L1:
https://siegelauctions.com/lot_grd....emailflag=on
This is the same stamp as shown in the Scott Specialized catalog.
Here is Anthony's fake (or replica, to use
ebay's terminology):
https://www.ebay.com/itm/US-Stamps-....m1438.l2649
Here's another example of a fake of 4L1:

Anyone can clearly see that the genuine stamp is much different than the other two. There are no listed varieties of this stamp; there can be no "difference of opinion."
The experiment is to simply click on the above link for the Anthony fake and complete the "report item" form, using either of the two entries that I showed previously (whichever one you think will work best).
Then maybe "Watch" the stamp, and let's see what happens.
If enough interested collectors here really want to clean up
ebay by removing fraudulent items and/or getting rid of problem sellers, then please participate in this experiment.
Maybe we'll see if
ebay does actually remove problem lots (with enough people reporting them), or they don't do anything at all.
In either case, the results should be interesting.
