I was a member of the 'down under' forum for a while but left after a dust up with GS over copyrighted images he posted without permission. When I asked about them he basically told me that he does whatever he wants. The images in question were the Prince William and Kate Middleton naked images, material I also felt was not suitable for a stamp hobby forum. While I never mentioned that issue, I certainly would not recommend a stamp forum where the owner posts nude celebrity images. But I understand and concur that there are some good posters fighting fraud and posting informative posts. I would not recommend a stamp forum to younger people if the owner thinks posting naked images of women is acceptable.
And then there is the issue with the personal attacks and insults. Clearly this has been an ongoing issues for years with a large amount hobbyists maintaining negative opinions towards that forum. This is another reason that the good value that can be found there is not being seen by as many people as it deserves.
Moving back to the thread's primary topic… it was pointed out to me, and it is a good point, that
ebay Trust & Safety is divided into the same organization as the rest of the
ebay subsidiaries. So even if someone might get some
ebay Trust & Safety to react in one country, it is NOT an enterprise wide result.
ebay Trust & Safety in GB is a different subsidiary than the
ebay Trust & Safety in AU, and they are all different than the US Trust & Safety group.
Lastly, I would like to make a point about this thread. I agree that the OP was not fully forthcoming when he started the thread. Posting that he was offered a refund should have been disclosed upfront. If a seller provides a refund (based upon whatever terms and conditions are in place regarding restocking fee, time limits, etc.) then the seller has fulfilled his end of the transaction.
But I do not agree that
ebay should have removed the negative feedback, the buyers negative feedback should have been left in place and the seller's explanation of the refund being offered should have also been published by
ebay. Then future buyers could make informed decisions based upon this history. Whitewashing the feedback only served to undermine the value of the feedback system and makes people even more leery of the entire situation.
