After reading the Anthonys topic above I see 3 problems;
1. People buy high priced stamps on
ebay without doing appropriate research.
2. Some
ebay sellers particularly the "big" sellers are ethically challenged.
3.
ebay does nothing to mitigate the problem and in fact suupports the big sellers.
I don't think anyone can do anything about #2 & #3. Don has done a terrific job with Stamp Smarter which has become an important hub for philatelic and
ebay information but people seem to buy first and research later. In an effort to send people to the right places for information I will add a statement such as the one below to all my
ebay listing and maybe other people can join me. I don't think it will have a big impact but at least it's a start.

Knowledge is the most important requirement for successful stamp collecting, I highly recommend all my bidders visit the 2 web sites below.
Stamp Community Forum - This highly recommended philatelic site regularly discusses important stamp-related topics and includes some rather controversial ones too, such as internet fraud, etc! Pay it a visit now. You can easily locate it by doing a Google search (or other search engine) for Stamp Community Forum. You will be glad you did!
Stamp Smarter - Another excellent stamp reference. This web site is a compendium of resources for all stamp collectors and has many useful features and should be in every stamp collector/ebay buyers toolbox. Google it!
Don if you think this is a good idea please feel free to wordsmith my description of Stamp Smarter (or any other part of the text). Any other suggestions also welcome.
