thx everyone . A special thanks to John from saskatoon stamps who gave me a good price on it and the chance to have it. I dreamed to own a seaway invert since I see the seaway block in the movie : tommy tricker and the stamp traveler back then when I was like 7 years old. Yes the only US stamp I own in my collection is the seaway stamp :) Just for fun today I received a price guide from 1962 wrote by Mr Kasimir Bileski and the invert Seaway worth 2500$ back then :) |

Congratulations audetnelson1 It's such a great feeling: the thrill of the chase, the moment of acquisition and the pleasure of ownership. I'm very confident she is in safe hands. Bobby DLR |

Me likey. I've always liked that particular error, even though I don't collect Canada. Too bad the U.S. variant didn't also have an invert. |

Bravo Nelson My dad bought a Seaway Inverted from Gary Lyon Philately some years back......kept it in his safety deposit box at BMO. $10,000 at the time.........when he passed away in 1999 some years later, I got $16,000 for the Stamp and do not regret selling it but it brings back good memories !!!(I have a big picture of the stamp in my Stamp Office) - Congrats again and enjoy !! Rene
p.s. I do not intend to buy another one at this stage in my life !! So what is your next project, Nelson ? |

Thx for the comment rene. Its nice to know you amd your dad owned a seaway inverted. Yes we need to keep the stamp in safe deposit box too risky in a house with that value. To answer your question for now I work on my mint canada set and I am now down to scott 96 so its my project. No other big project in mind for now.
You certainly enjoyed collecting stamps with your father and look at the seaway with him. Wish my father love stamps but its not the case so I try to have my sons interested in the hobby and we look at the seaway together when I bring it out of the deposit box:) |

My God. I remember when the Seaway stamps were issued. Hard to believe it was 60 years ago. 60! It was the first time I saw the same stamp being issued by two countries.

For all you fans of the Inverted Seaway: Charles Verge wrote a book entitled THE 1959 ST. LAWRENCE SEAWAY JOINT ISSUE AND ITS INVERT - a 208 page document recording everything anyone ever wanted to know about this stamp. The book was originally published in 2009 and is still available at the GREENE FOUNDATION ( http://www.greenefoundation.ca/) for the astonishing price of only $10 (plus s+h) Canadian dollars! GJP |
