I am just starting to re-sort my first cent issues and have found some interesting stamps. Most of these stamps have faults/damage ranging from minor to downright ugly. But will hopefully be of interest to the variety hunters like myself, and maybe some experts. I will repeat myself. Positive comments are welcomed, lets keep it civilised. I am too old, and have too many stamps, to learn the ins and outs and technical details of all the different papers and printing processes. I just know what I see. If you find that offensive, then please dont join in the conversation. I will make no apology for not having, or wanting your level of knowledge. Hopefully you will share your expertise, but if not thats up to you. Catalogue numbers are by 2016 Unitrade. Perfs are Kiusalas guage. I will start with a real dog, in appalling condition. It is not on re-entries or flyspecker. Unitrade 14. Many marks and some doubling. Perf 65 top, 66 left & low.

Since I am not an expert on re-entries, I looked at Ralph's www.re-entrie.com and various things appear on the one cent # 14 Canada. Good show, dynamode and thanks.....will follow what the experts have to say....

Renden. Yes quite a few varieties on these. I have more, but not putting the next ones on until the big boys see this one. I am thinking this is something special, apart from the appalling condition of course. I could be wrong, that would not be unusual.
Coriandre. Theres more I missed ???? |

I don't have a proof sheet of the re-entered plate. Your stamp is re-entered so I can only make an educated guess using the guide dot in upper left margin and guide dot between the west frame lines at 9 O'clock. These match position 1 on the early plate without re-entry. This is the best I can do as an educated guess. |

I think you nailed the PP, watermark. Note mark in E of CENT and the downward stroke in border over O of POSTAGE.
That being said, your specimen is well worth examining; the stamp appears to be a slip or "chatter" print as the doubling is so fuzzy and extensive. These are not uncommon to see at a marginal plate position. It can be hard to separate what is re-entry and what is not at times. |

The stroke of color over the O of Postage is a constant feature and is found on all the positions on the plate. Archerg may be correct in this being a slip print instead of a re-entry as they are not uncommon on the early stamp printings. |

watermark and archerg. Thanks very much for taking the time to look and confirm the plate position. Thanks watermark for adding the proof scan, that is an awesome looking stamp.
When I first saw the stamp I thought it may be a slip print, because as you say some of the doubling looks fuzzy. But the sharp marks in the S of postage made me unsure.
The perf measurement of 65 at the top, and 66 left and low. Would that be disregarded as a combination perf, because of the severe damage ?. |

Apologies to those that do not use, or know what the Kiusalas perf guage is. Here is a scan of it. If you look at the foot, you will see I have written the equivalent New ( the clear ) Instanta measurements. I have checked and rechecked all the perfs on these #14 1c. Could you have a quick look, and confirm all these different perfs are correct and known, before I start loading them up here tomorrow. There are a couple that are not listed in Unitrade at the foot of the page, Perf 67x65/66. |

Here are the rest. Many varieties found. I have all these stamps scanned individually. My descriptions are what I see, not neccesarily what they actually are. So if you can help with any, please let me know and I will load up large pictures. #15 5c beaver stamps. I have only one of these positioned up to now. |

Renden.
I use 2016 Unitrade. Its brilliant. The 2012 was my 1st one. About the same time I found re-entries.com. I got hooked on BNA from then on.
I am still pretty useless on most of the technical aspects, and make many mistakes. But I try to keep it simple, that way its usually still fun. I always get a buzz from finding something different. Finding out what it is, is the hard part. Thats why forums like this are great.
Reading books is something I have never enjoyed, and try to avoid, especially the really old, badly printed ones with no pictures. I just nod off and forget what I have read. |
