Here is a beautiful proof pair I picked up at ORAPEX. It is positions 75 and 76 on state 4 of the plate. State 4 was in use from 1863 to 1864 and the yellow orange proofs were printed in 1864. Position 75 has Whitworth's printing flaw 7 and slight re-entry bottom left frame lines. Three lines running from R to A. Three lines in margin opposite G. Re-entered bottom frame lines lower left. Actual stamp with printing flaw 7. |

Gilles, this is my 17 cents (#19) and was wondering where it would fit in your plating project. Thanks - did go through the database on stampsmarter.com but my "ignorance of plating" did not help much !! 12 X 11.7 (decimal gauge) 12 X 11 3/4 (Unitrade gauge) René |

Watermark. Thanks for sharing. Great stamps and scans. Gilles. Last time I tried I could not view your project. Its fine now. Great work. You kindly plated two of mine. This is the best condition of the 3 stamps I have, and the one that will be going into my album. It seems to match position 95; Pos. dot on cheek, 3 vert. lined in E of Postage, guide dot below left 17. #19 Perf 12x11¾. It also has some other marks shown below. Am I correct on position 95 ?. |

Dynamode, you are correct, it is definitely a position 95. I also note yours has the mark at 4 o'clock from the bottom position dot which is similar to the one from the Kershaw book. Great looking stamp |

Rene, to identify yours, I would need a larger scan. If you want to email me a 1200 dpi, I should try to find its position. |

Here is a little trick I use to recognize dots on lets just use this 17 cent Canada stamp..Nothing amazing, but you can see spots easier with this image manipulation with the actual stamp beside it. Just posted for fun... BTW Don..You got a great site there..

I need help identifying this Beaver re-entry. It is quite extensive, in the bottom part of the stamp (see oval and top of I've CENTS), but I am unable to see this re-entry in my copy of Withworth book. Has any one got a clue to its position? State? |
