Just came up with these Franklin 1c vert pairs (2). So, I thought it would be a good exercise in novice plating. Stamps are damaged unfortunately, but I figured it would be good for learning. First to identify them, I'm stuck between 22's and 24's. I'm leaning toward Scott 24 because it appears to me that the side ornaments are not complete. Has anyone certified anything via the Doporto site? Thanks ya'll.

How sweet was that!?! According to Dudley's tool, these are Scott 24 V's. Thanks Don! |

Ty Vs as you correctly figured out.
That 1c plating jump-page from stamp smarter is getting pretty scary good. Very very nice.
I haven't sent anything to Doporto, but many here, have, with good results from Plates 1e-4.
I can't speak for how likely you are to get a Ty V plated, but with pairs, they probably have a good shot. For most Ty Vs the cert isn't really worth it for identification, since the cost of the cert is close to the cost of many damaged Ty Vs, but, if you really want it plated then maybe its worth it. |

There is a good chance that the stamps used to be a Relief A-B-C-D vertical strip of four. Plating it (with a good image) would probably be like taking candy from a baby. I can narrow it down to Plates 5, 7. or 8 right now. |

What about this candidate? I may need a little help on this one. The blue cancel does not help at all. I am thinking plate 4, E or F relief. |

Jaxom did you buy it? I had my eyes on it, thinking it had a chance to be something other than a IIIa...def not F relief, and from your image it looks like it's E...did you plate it and is it a Type 1c? |

Winston, I'm thinking Plate 8... Orn R on the B relief looks like it still has a faint side scratch to me, and not enough mottling for 7, and no comma under the T in POSTAGE.. but, you're the master :)

That blue cancel does make it very hard. The stamp has to be an "E" relief from plate 4. No other relief from any other plate matches. The 87L4 has the upper right dot to the right of orn Z1 and center right dots (neither shown on Nienken drawings) that Doporto shows and the break in the top looks about right. I am not sure about the marks in orn L-M. They do not seem to match anything that I have found. The color seems to match the stamp more than the cancel. It is pretty far from the cancel as well. There is also the mark in the frame line above the "E" of POSTAGE not shown anywhere. The mark in the "T" of CENT is not shown nor is the dot under "E" of CENT. There is also the scratch under the "N" of CENT that looks like it may be a part of the stamp and not the cancel. Also, it looks like this stamp as used twice. There is evidence of a lightened pen cancel on the head other than the blue cancel. We also know that the stamp to the right has complete ornaments A and B. I even rescanned the stamp at 12800 dpi to get more clarity. It showed a lot of marks in the right border clearly. 87L4 is the closest I have seen do far, but I am not convinced. There are a lot of marks not shown on any images that I have seen. I have been looking for more images to compare.
