3 cent Washington on cover. Letter suggests a date of Aug 1868.
Used retroReveal to try and determine the type of grill. But only have the .tiff and cannot upload to SCF.
I count 15 rows down and 12 across, but I cannot determine the width of the grill.
My best guess would be a Scott # 85 D Grill

Not very likely. Probably an E or F-grill.

Counting rows and columns is the best way to identify grills. Measurements given in the Scott catalog are not precise enough to be useful. An F grill will have 12 vertical rows (columns) while an E grill will have 14 and a D grill 15. Based on the description above, the stamp has an F grill making it a Scott 94.

I've found using the US specialty precision multi gauge - http://www.slingshotvenus.com/stamp...tyPerf5.html

Thanks Everyone.
