I'd say so. The cv difference between the R37a, b & c is considerable.
But interestingly, the blue dot on the lower left margin seems to show up in all of the R37 variants. I have a b & c both with that little blue dot. |

'Fresh'? The stamp, at least in this image, looks like it has been cleaned. Don |

It's a dry print. It's also the wrong shade, even on a computer screen. Since Imperfs, part perfs, and perforated stamps were all printed from the same plate, the same position would show the same characteristics. |

The year date of the cancel looks to be '68 so more than lickly a trimmed copy. |

Quote: Dropped it into retroReveal. Looks more like 1868. Get a writing stick and a piece of paper. Write an "8" in a way that results in a tail coming up and to the right like the scan. Now repeat as a "3" instead. I believe it is a "3" - not an "8". |

I'm just curious if you all would humor me and provide your 3's and 8's. Here's mine. |

Moyock13,
Compare the left edge of the numeral in the canx. There are 3 distinct "bumps".
Using your exemplars, a "3" has three left bumps, and an "8" has two.
I have horrible handwriting - my "8" is simply two Os; one on top of the other.
I went through my calendar collection to review manuscript 63s and 68s. I will scan a couple hopefully later tonight.
Sorry, but I have a salmon fillet, 4 chicken quarters, 10 chicken thighs, and a dish of onion and asparagus about done in the smoker.
At the moment, stamps take second place to smoked meat! |

this appears to be a trimmed stamp and the nicks perforation remains. I believe the date to be 1863.
