I am confused about the identifying features of Scott 25 and 26 types I to IV. The Scott Specialized Catalog is relatively clear about the features of 25 type 1, 25A type II, 26 type III, and 26A type IV. Note that each type has a unique catalog number. Strangely, Scott's Minuteman album has spaces for a 25 Type I and a 26 Type II. I would think there would be consistency between the catalog and album, but the catalog has no mention I can find of a 26 Type II. What is a 26 Type II? Swedish Tiger describes both 25 and 25A Type 1, 26 Type 2, and 26A Type 2a. His type 2 matches the description of Scott type III, his 2a matches Scott IV.

With all that said I believe the attached are both Scott 26, type III and will put one in my Minuteman space for 26 Type II.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Are your catalog and album from the same year?

What stampcrow is referring to is about 10 years ago Scott changed up the type and numbering for these.

I'm using a 2013 Scott Specialized catalog. The album is from 1999. If Scott changed the numbering that would explain the discrepancy between the two. It's strange that they would specify four different "types " when each has a unique catalog number anyway. I suppose the type is really irrelevant.

One other question...

On the second (bottom) stamp, the right frame line touches the design, including the upper and lower right diamond rectangles. I take it that this is not considered an inner frame line, but rather just a plate variation with the outer frame line cut further in than most Scott 26's?
