Looks impressive to be sure. But I have to ask, why would you pay so much money, when someone else has already had the fun of collecting it? That's not collecting, that's acquiring. |

A $240,000 collection on ebay with a letter that says so at the bargain price of 50 % of whatever they figured the catalog value is worth. |

If you buy it and hold it ,then that is acquiring . If you buy it and expand it and add value to it then that is collecting .
Rogdcam ,they don't mention catalog value ,they look like they are saying the merchandise has a value of . Even in the one picture ,one stamp has a bad corner ,so anybody can make a merchandise value what ever they want . |

"Valued by Rousseau entreprises $240.000.00"
I'm guessing that Rousseau bases his valuation fee on the 'value' of the collection. Great business if you can get it.

Quote: I am going out on a limb to predict that it won't sell. I am thinking that anyone who has $120,000 spare has brains enough not to spend it on the basis of an assertion by some anonymous seller on the internet that his collection is worth that! Not even willing to put pictures of the allegedly valuable stamps on the listing! |

I do love Lighthouse albums, but even at list price, I can find them cheaper... Odd to put it on ebay - consignment to an auction house would make more sense. |

Even if I had the money, I would not touch it with a 10 foot pole. Look at other items sold, nowhere near this amount. Wants that kind of money based on only 3 pictures. And yes, why on ebay? Someone on either end will be a big loser is my guess. |

Don, I think that is actually the new asinine "this lot is gone but let ebay pick a random auction that has nothing to do with the original lot" change, to better your buying experience of course. |

That's just the new ebay redirection strategy, shifting you to an item for sale because the first is no longer available. The listing reminds me of a dealer's story. He was asked to value a collection and make an offer. He wrote his fair cash-value offer, a very low five-figure sum, on a piece of paper. The seller, an elderly man, was irate and returned the paper after adding a zero to the sum. Perhaps this is just a seller "going their own way" and using ebay as low-cost advertising. I am sure Mme Rousseau (yes, she of the Darnell catalogues) was simply providing a catalogue valuation. |

I know who NYStamps is but what does that or the seller's feedback in the opening post have to do with NYStamps.
Or am I missing something? |

The seller is privateme but if you look at sellers feedback NYStamps and a host of other sellers including privateme are listed as the sellers. Most unusual. |
