Last month I was working on putting my U.S. wine stamps into Palo hingeless pages, only to discover that the spaces and mounts for the large denominations with tabs (Scott #RE56-59, RE107A-RE107F) were too small to adequately protect the stamps. The stamps stuck out roughly a querter inch on the left, right, and top.

I sent an email to Palo telling them this and received an email asking me for a picture, as well as measurements of the example in the picture.

Long story short, they've modified the pages in question with larger spaces and mounts and I received replacement pages in the mail today.

That's service you won't ever get from the major album manufacturers, certainly not in that timeframe.

Paul is very easy to deal with and is always responsive. I believe they will be offering 20% off their Palo and Davo albums in October. https://paloalbums.com

Murmur....

I notified him of the same issue with my pages on 13 January!

Here are all the issues I identified with my pages. I sent an email to Palo on 13 Jan 18:

COMMENTS/SUGGESTIONS:

• The slip cases need a half moon cutout at the top to assist in removing the binder
o When the binder is in the slip case, it is very difficult to pull them out – nothing to grab on to
o I am forced to simply not put the binders all the way into the slip covers so I can get them back out
• The "Page Lifters" are too long between the edge and the hole punch. As a result, they catch on each other when the binder is opened up and have to be manually fixed almost every time I open the binders. I suspect cutting some of the material off between the edge and the hole punch may fix this issue so they can't contact each other

USA80
• R Second issue mounts much too large on first page
• R Second issue mounts too small for $20?, $25 and $50
• R 1900 Dupe $1 and $3 (R182 and R183 are included on two pages)
o On 1898 Allegorical Figure page and again listed as 1900
• R Second and Third issue invert stamps missing

USA81
• RC "Future Delivery" red overprint doesn't exist
o Delete entire second set on first page of Future Delivery stamps
• RC "Future Delivery" reading up in red for $2, $10, $20 don't exist
o Delete on 1918 – 34 page
• USA81 and USA82 are numbered out of order and should be reversed
o Currently, USA82 is the RBs, and USA81 is the RCs

USA82

• RB The spaces for the 50 cent and $1 are way too large
o My 50 cent is almost the exact same size as the picture on the page

USA83
• RD "Stock Transfer" red overprint doesn't exist
o Delete entire second set on first page of Stock Transfer stamps
• RD RD11a ($1 overprint reading down) and RD18a ($20) not included, but RD12a ($2) and RD16a ($5) are

USA84
• RE Starting on the 3rd page, 1916 series boxes and mounts are too small – almost every one of my stamps sticks out the top of the mount
o This applies to the medium sized stamps for all series (1916 – 1941)
• RE The $20 - $100 stamp – the boxes and mounts are way too small, vertically and horizontally
o My stamps touch each other they are so close (2 stamps per page)
• RE "10 DOLLARS" wine pic incorrect (1 line vs 2)
o Series is "Denomination Spelled Out in Two Lines"
• REF Fermented Fruit Juice stamps not included

USA85
• RF Playing card mounts way too small for RF11, RF12, and RF13
• RF RF-series doesn't include the Scott listed wet and dry printings
o RF26A, RF27A, RF28B
• RG Silver Tax $1000 spelled "ORNAGE" on 2nd page of Silver Tax Stamps
o Both $1,000 boxes have the misspelling
• RG Silver Tax $100 box and mount too small for Series 1941 – 1944
o Looks like all stamps may be too small, but I only have 2 of these stamps
• RVB Suggest adding a box for each denomination for a single used stamp
o Mint copies are collected as both halves
o Used copies are only the top half with the boat image which were placed on the license, the other half was sent with the application
o Addition of the single stamp box for both denomination is recommended
• RX Distilled Spirits stamps not included
• RZ Rectification stamps not included

yep - sent some of the same comments as StateRevs back in March - specifically the mounts being too small for $20 - $50 second issue and too large for the 50’ and $1 proprietary and some other nits. Also noted some errors for the M&Ms.

@Staterevs good comments on the slipcases and page lifters, that's been my only quibble with an otherwise excellent product. And glad to hear about an upcoming sale.

Suggestion, based on my interactions with Paul @ Palo:

Comments like "too big" and "too small" aren't helpful to them. Send them a scan of the stamp(s) in question in the palo page along with exact measurements of the stamp. They then have the data necessary to implement fixes.

Presumably, given that Palo is, in the main, simply printing Steiner material as needed on large pages, it can be a bit lighter on its feet than Schaubek, Davo etc.

Perhaps more a function of small company vs. larger. Having worked for both, small is usually more nimble/responsive, and larger moves more slowly but can bring more resources to the table. Hard to keep that nimbleness when everything goes through a committee...
