I'm just about done going through my Club Auction Finland lot and came across these 19th Century hunks of postal stationery, which aren't listed in Scott.

Thought someone might be interested in seeing these and be able to share some info (since I have none! LOL).

Thanks!

Sadly not much value with these. Modern day Finnish collectors collect/prefer entire stationary, cut squares went out of fashion sometime in 1960/70s.

Top three are from postal cards (Carte Postale).
Top one is likely from 1888 (PK21). Catalog value for full piece would be 2.50€
Two in center are from postcards of type 1875. 10p (PK10) entire would have catalog value of 5€, 16p (PK12) is somewhat unusual(a full card would be 25€).

Last one seems to be from 1890 postal envelope (on paper, not card). As such it would be likely from EK27, a full piece would be 2.50€.

Needless to say a ton of variants, subtypes etc. within postal stationary.

Thank you -k-

That is exactly what I was looking for - just some identification so I could document what is in the lot. Not sad, I didn't expect them to be worth much! You are correct on the last item. A portion of the envelope flap is still folded around the back.

...on a happier note - there was a fairly decent used copy of your SCB avatar in there also:

Hi Al,

nice to hear the advice was spot on.

That red cross ship is definitely one of the best Finnish stamp designs :) Unfortunately most used copies of these stamps, yours included, are late cancelled. The usage period of these stamps was very short (only 13 months) and usage low, thus the demand of used copies has always been far greater than supply. As such few Finnish dealers/collectors of the late 1930s (and 1940s) favor cancelled these Red Cross semipostals in large quantity after validity. Sometimes genuine (but lost/stolen) postmarks were used, sometimes complete fake postmarking devices were used. Telltale is usually a no-telling quarter corner cancellation similar to yours.

Catalog values apply for copies showing clear location + date within proper usage era. Anything else is (or should be) valued at mint or less.
