Poll Question:
I am getting ready to order several albums from Palo and, while Palo is noted for the color images of stamps on their pages, I am going to opt for the black and white image versions. I prefer these because, to me, they are more classical looking and it is much easier to see what stamps you have and don't have. What about you? Do you prefer color or black and white?

I voted black and white because not color wasn't a choice. What I prefer is my paper color (varies) with black text & border and gray boxes. |

All of my albums are black paged. They show the stamps up better than white. The only stamp I have off the top of my head that fails to show up is the Queen Astrid mourning stamp from Belgium. |

Coastwatcher, I think you mean the color of the printing rather than the paper?

I have a bunch of Palo albums and the black & white illustrations are much nicer. Look more classic, and as you say, much easier to see what you have & don't.
Just add a note in your order, and they'll ensure you get the B&W ones. |

Like Bobby, I prefer black pages, although I use them more sparingly. Their disadvantages are price - roughly twice that of white quadrille - and their unforgiving nature when mistakes are made. I wouldn't buy Palo, as they're mainly expensive reprints of Steiner. |

Love my B&W hingeless Palo US revenue pages!
Wish a few things would be updated/fixed, but with B&W you can see at a glance what is there and what is missing. |

I don't think I would ever buy an album with color illustrations. I don't want anything to distract from the beauty of the actual stamps. I am particular about the color of the paper however. Not too dark and not too light. I like the color of the paper in my Lighthouse albums and in my Scott albums. |

I'd prefer B&W were I buying
As for presentation, colour seems like "cheating" since the page looks complete before you start.
I remember trying to value a collection on colour pages, I gave up! |

Where are you folks getting your albums with black quadrille pages? I've always wanted to add a few to my mix. I know SG used to make what they called 'The Nubian' but shipping from the UK to the US gets prohibitively expensive. |

I guess I'm the only one who prefers color pages. I use a Showguard black mount, which allows for a nice backing for the stamp on page, and I find it just as easy to see what is present, and what is missing that way. But I think the color images present better in pages with missing stamps. But that's just my preference.
