I removed these from a Scott album from the late 1800's. I know this is probably one of the most forged stamps in the world. One of the stamps appears to be printed on laid paper. It's got me wondering. I'm posting images of the front and reverse of each of the four stamps in hopes of getting input from the forum. I've read through prior threads on this stamp but didn't see anything which addressed forgeries on laid paper.
The reason the type of paper is not discussed often is because there are enough differences in the design to identify forgeries ,the only place that I ran into the paper issue is in the early Swiss issues where the designs are so good the experts go to the paper on the forgeries to I.D. them.
Thanks. From what I've read the forgeries outnumber the real issues by a significant margin. My consolation is I didn't pay very much for them and I got what I paid for...album fillers.
