Hi

Because of the design variation between Scott R81 as shown in Scott and the design of this stamp, not pictured in Scott, I am wondering if I am mistaken in describing this stamp as R84.

Thank you. I'm working with a Scott 2005 Specialized Catalog which doesn't list letter designations and a 2013 1840-1940 Scott Catalog which does. Unfortunately, neither catalog contains images corresponding to many of the issues. Is there a catalog with a more comprehensive listing of Revenue Stamps of the U.S.? Hopefully one heavy on images for those of us who haven't had opportunities to see them up close yet.

you need a newer version of the specialized Scott. one within the last three or four years old will go a long way to helping you. there are dealer and collector web sites that will also show you photos which will aid in ids.
i dont have a list available, i'm sure others will chip in with further details.
