Congrats on your first watermark! I'm sure many more will follow. What did you use as a detecting agent? |

Not possible to scan a stamp in fluid... The key to good photos of stamps is in the right MACRO zoom lens, OR, use a multi-lens smartphone camera (several have 2 or 3 lenses now). They take GREAT images.

How I scan a stamp in fluid.
I use the approval cards (black plastic back and clear front). Place stamp in approval card, apply fluid, let clear front return to cover stamp. The fluid is trapped and does not evaporate quickly. You so need to watch for air pockets over stamp. I do this when I also just need more dwell time without scanning.
Scan.

Angore, You know, that is a very clever idea. Never thought of it, but we have found the strong modern day smart phones (with 24mp+ multi-lens cameras) or a really good macro zoom fitted SLR give greater details. Scanners over 600DPI are usually interpolated, which means they're just "digitally enlarging" the scan, same as using photo shop to blow the image up. The higher resolution photos at 24MP to 40MP are amazing. Worth spending some time to learn to use them. But the approval card with some fluid in the leaf... cool cool.

I have a 24MP full frame camera with a macro lens that I use for tagging pics. For watermarks, I usually scanned to assist in image manipulation to help find the watermark. |

Angore......Wont the Ronsonal eat through the app card or are you using watermark fluid? Thats a cool idea I wish to try.......! Another idea.... use a usb camera with a stamp sandwiched between microscope slides! I am gonna try this also...my usb camera takes still pics very much like a scan, and can save to my computer. |
